Bringing a Classic Car to Life in Branding

When it comes to professional logo design, personalisation is key. A well-crafted logo should not only represent a business but also tell its unique story. Recently, I had the opportunity to design a custom logo and business card for a client who wanted an old-school car featured in their branding. The best part? The car wasn’t just any classic—it was their very own 1968 Pontiac.
This project was an exciting challenge, blending hand-sketched design with a modern branding approach. Here’s how I turned a timeless vehicle into a memorable logo design.

Understanding the Client’s Vision
Every great logo starts with a conversation. My client envisioned a vintage-inspired logo featuring an old-school car. Instead of using generic imagery, I suggested something more personal: his actual 1968 Pontiac. This approach would make the brand feel more authentic and meaningful.
During the briefing process, we discussed key elements:
✅ Retro Car Illustration – A sketch of the client’s vehicle
✅ Colour Palette – Blues, greys, and blacks for a professional yet bold feel sticking to their branding palette
✅ Timeless Design – A logo that balances nostalgia with a modern touch
By ensuring the design aligned with the business identity, we created something that was not just visually appealing but also strategic for branding.
The Sketching & Design Process
1️⃣ Hand-Drawn Concept: I started by sketching the Pontiac’s iconic shape on my iPad in ProCreate, ensuring the proportions and details remained recognisable.
2️⃣ Digital Refinement: The sketch was refined into a clean, vector-based illustration using Adobe Fresco, making it scalable for all branding needs.
3️⃣ Colour Customisation: Instead of the car’s original colour, I adjusted it to match the brand’s theme—a sleek mix of coastal blue, grey, and black.
By carefully crafting each element, the final result was a unique, bold, and professional logo that perfectly represented the client’s business.
Why Custom Logos Matter for Branding
A logo is more than just a visual symbol—it’s the foundation of a brand’s identity. Here’s why investing in custom logo design is essential:
🚀 Memorable Branding – A unique design makes your business stand out in a crowded market.🎯 Professionalism & Trust – A polished logo enhances credibility and brand perception.
🔗 Personal Connection – Custom elements (like a personal car) create a deeper emotional connection with customers.
📈 Scalability & Versatility – A well-designed logo works across all platforms—business cards, websites, social media, and merchandise.
For businesses looking to establish a strong and timeless identity, a tailored logo design is always a smart investment.
Final Touch: Matching Business Card Design
To complete the branding package, I designed matching business cards featuring the new logo. The layout was kept clean and stylish, reinforcing the retro-classic aesthetic while ensuring professional appeal.
When everything comes together—logo, typography, colour scheme, and business card design—it creates a cohesive brand image that leaves a lasting impact.
